Gan (Kindergarten) - Curriculum
- Prayer Tefillah
- Students will become familiar with prayers and learn their basic meanings.
- Torah
- Students will learn ethics and values from key Torah figures in the books of Genesis and Exodus
- Israel
- Students will sing Hatikvah each day in music class, and will learn about the importance of the State of Israel through art and song.
- Hebrew
- Students will learn everyday words related to body parts, colors, and holidays.
- Ritual Objects
- Students will learn to identify and about the use of such items as Kiddush cups, mezuzot, Torah scrolls, chanukiot (Chanukah menorahs) with Rabbi Newman Kamin and throughout the year in class.
- Holidays
- Students will become familiar with each holiday, including each one’s symbols, traditions, and blessings. Students will learn in a “hands-on” manner how to celebrate at home.
- Library
- Students will listen to stories told by our synagogue librarian, Mr. Dick Nugent.
- Music Class
- Students will sing Jewish songs with specialist teacher Ms. Natasha Bodansky and Madrich Ryan Hochman.
- Art Class
- Specialist teachers Ms. Michelle Drucker and Ms. Sheila Serota, along with the classroom teacher and madrich(a), will lead students in art projects.
